A Biiiiiig ol’ Much Needed Update!

Hello strangers!!

Whether you are visiting for the first time or the fiftieth time…. welcome back! I usually start off with an apology for not finding the time to blog and update everyone, but this time its different!

I haven’t blogged in over a year. That. Is. Crazy. And I can’t use the excuse that I didn’t have time, or I had forgotten, or I’d been working too much, I didn’t blog because I didn’t want to blog. Simple as that. It would be REALLY easy for me to come on here and pretend like life has been just as great lately as it was the last time I blogged, that everything is going AMAZINGLY well, and that I hadn’t had a hard time living and working here for the last year and a half. But, it would be unfair to you guys to write that, and I can’t hide my emotions anyways so you would know I was lying.  I didn’t want to blog, so I didn’t. I didn’t want to write a depressing update, so I decided to just not update at all.

Tis the season to be thankful, and I am SO thankful I am in a better place now. I am thankful for all of the support I have received from my home church in LA, my friends here and in America, and of course, my family.  It is seriously not always easy living in a foreign country on your own, and even harder when very few people can relate, but I have learned that I have great friends here still (seriously ALL my best friends from Bucharest moved back to America, and away this summer. I wish I was exaggerating when I said all, but I am not!)  I still have great relationships with all of the Romanians I had worked with my first year here, which means they still welcome me with open arms for a home cooked meal every week (!!!)  and I still have a passion for working with these children in Bucharest.  So, eventually I gained some perspective, took time to process the last couple of years, and rebuilt my life here. I felt like I was starting over, and I kind of was, but I am so thankful that it only took a short amount of time to reconnect and connect with people who help me, encourage me, and challenge me to live better.

The month of December is going to be extremely busy (in a good way of course!) with a team from England coming out to help shop, wrap, and deliver toys to the children, cooking over 1000 sarmale (traditional Romanian Christmas meal), and having my sister come visit for a long weekend (yay!) There is so much to do in such a short amount of time it can get overwhelming, BUT not having to worry about the cost of the materials, gifts, etc is an AMAZING relief and I would like to personally thank YOU for your donations already.  More to come on that in the next post!

This week I am blogging every other day! On ways that people in the South Bay, and London have ALREADY helped donate so much this Christmas season, other ways YOU can donate to help a child receive a gift this year, and more details on the ministries I will be working with when December is over! I promise my next few posts will be more entertaining (including pictures!) and positive, I just felt like this update needed to be done before anything else!

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving in America! I am excited to be blogging again, to be connected with you again, and to be keeping you updated with my work here!
