Probablyyyyyy one of the busiest times of the year but I usually reflect on those times and this week I decided to blog in current time.
This last weekend I flew up to Cluj to complete my first official 10k race. I didn’t post about the injuries I was dealing with the entire month leading up to the race because I didn’t want to be talked into dropping out. I am so glad I didn’t because I completed it with relative ease, and with minor pain. Although two days later I am still on pain killers for a reoccurring knee injury BUT, for once, this wasn’t about me, it was about the cause we were running for. (see blog below for more details on Blythswood Romania) Marc, Marina and I raised over $1000 dollars for this cause! Thank you to everyone who donated and supported our run and us, it is crazy how accountable you feel when you want to give up but know so many of your supporters and backing you. So, THANK YOU!
Before I move on I have to give my opinion on Cluj. So many people told me how much I would love it. How much better than Bucharest it was. How much cleaner, and nicer it was. How the people were way friendlier. Etc. Etc. Etc. Those people were wrong. (Okay fine, it was cleaner, and it wasn’t awful but I have been known to be very blunt, and passionate and direct about my opinions so theres no reason to sugar coat how I really feel now) The weather was great, Ill admit. But the entire weekend I kept thanking God he had called me to live and work in Bucharest, not Cluj. It is soooooo not me. Its too small, and studenty, and almost hipstery? I don’t know but with that being said, I did enjoy it for a weekend. I was SO excited to jump on a flight and head back home though, which means I am still just as in love with Bucharest as I was almost 5 years ago when I moved here. I didn’t take many/any pictures really, but here is a good one I took the morning we landed.
And here is one of the Cluj Arena that the national team now plays in, and where the finish line was for the race. It was really cool to have the final 200 yards run around the track in this bad boy.
I flew back from Cluj last night and immediately went to work with Hope Rescue Centre today in preparation for Easter this Sunday. We are making food packages for over 60 families this year. Before the food was delivered to us for us to sort and package it all, we started to organize the tons of bags of clothing donations I had collected over the last couple of weeks. Here are a couple before and during pictures. We aren’t quite done, so I will reveal an after picture when we have sorted through the last few bags. THANK YOU to everyone in Bucharest who has donated to us.
SO, my goal is to blog before the end of the week with all of our food package pictures and pictures of us delivering them to the thankful families. Once again, I feel like if I write about it, I will be held more accountable to to actually do it!
We are still $400 dollars short on the amount of money we need to cover the cost of food for the rest of the families we hope to bless with an Easter food package. If you would like to donate, PLEASE email me ASAP as the donation will have to be put directly into my Wells Fargo account so I can withdraw and use it immediately. Thank you in advance for being a direct donor for such an immediate need.
In addition to all of this, my house has been somewhat of a shelter for a few people in need since January. Without going into too much detail, it has been an honor to help a few friends as they transition into better and healthier new chapters in their lives. And soon, I will be able to talk more about a specific friend who has TOTALLY started not just a new chapter in her life, but a completely new book! Its exciting, and its also really hard for me not to shout and celebrate from the rooftops at THIS moment, but for now, Ill hold my tongue and save that story for a new blog.
WELLLLLL it’s 21:30 and I am about to fall asleep on my laptop so without further ado- goodbye and goodnight!
(PS, I owe quite a few people an email response, and I PROMISE, I am slowly working through them all, please forgive me, I haven’t forgotten about you, I just want to give you the response you deserve instead of blasting off a 5 sentence email! Here is a picture of my gorgeous cat as an apology, along with beautiful flowers because spring is here and the weather is AMAZING!)
