Cinco de Mayooooo!

Let me start by saying, if you live in America, or a big city with access to great/good/decent/edible Mexican food…. you better be have some chicken enchiladas and/or tacos in my honor today. Now that that is out of the way, let me update you on everything from my health, to my trip to America, to current projects and work that is being done here.

Let me start with some amazing news. If you follow me on any social media, this isn’t breaking news for you but it is such a big deal you should really continue reading. As I have written in the past, paperwork here is by far the worst thing about this country. Romania has the cheapest and fastest internet in Europe, with some of the best IT people in the world, and yet the paperwork here is still just that, done on paper. There is no system to make it easier, or to make any sort of registration slightly less painful.

For the last few years I have been living here without a visa due to my British citizenship. That doesn’t mean I don’t have to register as a resident though. Cutting years out of this long and tedious story, since the beginning of 2017 I have been working hard on getting my official Romanian residency, with an ID number and everything. And finally, after lots of blood, sweat, and frustrated tears, I got it. Obviously, I was excited!

Now that I officially have an ID number. I can start the process AGAIN on getting the car that I bought TWO YEARS AGO into my name. I have already started this week at notary offices, insurance and registration places and getting turned away from tons of offices but I am working on it and slowwwwwllllyyyyy making progress. Dare I say, I am starting to see a light at the end of this long tunnel. If and when the car is in my name, I am officially done with all paperwork until 2022. I think.  So I am praying I can get this done before mid June when teams and camps start happening!

Onto my health. If you’ve been following my blog for more than a day, you’ll know that I have had horrible wisdom teeth pain on and off for over a year. I couldn’t decide whether to get them extracted in LA, London or Bucharest.  Bucharest was obviously the cheaper option BUT with no family here, I felt like the recovery would be a bit brutal. Of course, all my friends were willing to help take care of me, bring me soup, etc etc but I just knew I wouldn’t have been totally comfortable making everyone be my slave. But I would feel comfortable doing that to my family. Well thankfully, my mom is currently in London and is flying out Tuesday to help me deal with the recovery. I am getting them out Wednesday afternoon. Prayers appreciated! I am not looking forward to Wednesday but I am looking forward to recovering and not having the super painful toothaches and headaches I have endured the passed few years.

Besides all of that, I am currently working on a campaign to get the kids who are coming to camp sponsored so they have the appropriate shoes and clothing for a week of camp. Last year we had people donate whatever they wanted to us, but this year I wanted it more organized and easier for people to donate and sponsor a specific child. More details on that coming soooooon, but it basically involves getting the list of children we are taking to camp, getting their shoe and clothing sizes, getting pictures of them, and starting the promotion of getting each of them sponsored. Last year, with one camp of 35 kids it would have been a breeze, but since we are DOUBLING the camps, and the number of children coming, its a lot of work. (not complaining, but saying) The first team arrives in about 7 weeks, and then camp starts immediately after that, so without stressing myself out even more, TIME IS RUNNING OUT.

Speaking of time flying by, in exactly NINE weeks I will be landing in Los Angeles for less than a month of fundraising, friend and family time, and one of my best friend’s weddings. My schedule is filling up quickly and I would love to speak at any church, Bible Study, small group that is willing to have me, so PLEASE start to check your schedules and email me so we can plan a date and a time! I have so much to do and I am so excited for the camps before my trip that it is hard to wrap my mind around it, but you better believe I am headed for In N Out the second I land.

Since I have already rambled more than usual, I might as well update you on some bitter sweet and AMAZING news. The bittersweet news is my good friend, fellow missionary Bambi has left Bucharest after 7 years here. We only connected last year due to Hope Rescue Centre, but we became so close.  I know her time was fruitful here and the time had come for her to leave, but it still doesn’t make it any easier saying goodbye!

Now onto some AMAZING news! I am going to make this very very vague as it isn’t about me but I still feel God should get some SERIOUS glory for making this happen finally. After 3 years of dreaded paperwork, courts, and lawyers, a couple I work with have finally OFFICIALLY adopted their son.  I was sent the video of their son finding out today and let me tell you- TEARS. I could not be happier for their little family, how blessed the parents are to have such a great son, and how blessed their son is to have such loving Godly parents.

Sorry for the lack of pictures. I felt like a thorough update was needed as the next couple of months are so busy I am scared I wont blog as much as I should.

As always, thanks for the support, love and prayers. Without those, I wouldn’t still be here.

Blessings from Buchaaaaa,

See you soon and good luck on your surgery.  I had all four out once and it wasn’t any fun so I’m glad your mom is coming over Camilla. Took a wild ride in your dad’s three wheeler yesterday , much love Nancy
